Timothy (Tim) Sandberg is Director of Operations for Protect Environmental’s Salt Lake City team, leading radon mitigation, vapor intrusion, and indoor air quality services for residential and commercial properties across Utah and the Intermountain West. A former co-owner of RadoVent (acquired by Protect Environmental in 2022), Tim holds multiple NRPP certifications and has worked in radon mitigation since 2008.
Timothy (Tim) Sandberg serves as Director of Operations for the Salt Lake City team at Protect Environmental, where he oversees radon mitigation, vapor intrusion mitigation, and indoor air quality services across Utah and the Intermountain West. With more than 17 years in the radon industry, Tim brings a rare combination of technical depth, operational leadership, and on-the-ground knowledge of Utah’s unique geology and construction practices.
Tim began his career in radon mitigation in 2008 and went on to co-own RadoVent, a Utah-based radon mitigation firm widely recognized as one of the most respected providers in the state. Under his leadership, RadoVent built a reputation for quality workmanship, responsive service, and thoughtful system design. Those values carried directly into the Salt Lake City operations after Protect Environmental acquired RadoVent in 2022.
Today, Tim leads a regional team that combines local field expertise with the engineering, design, technical, and analytical laboratory resources of Protect Environmental, the largest soil gas contractor in the United States.
Utah’s geology, including uranium-rich soils across the Wasatch Front, Uintah Basin, and southern counties, contributes to elevated radon potential statewide. Tim’s local experience allows him to tailor mitigation systems to the realities of each property: basement and slab-on-grade homes, crawlspace foundations, new residential developments, multifamily complexes, and commercial buildings.
As Director of Operations, Tim oversees regional scheduling, team training and quality control, municipal permitting, customer consultation, post-installation verification testing, and long-term system performance monitoring. His combination of field experience and executive oversight ensures both technical excellence and operational efficiency.
Tim holds multiple certifications through the National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP), the credentialing division of AARST and the recognized authority for radon professional certification in the United States:

Tim has designed and overseen mitigation systems for apartment complexes, condominium developments, schools, municipal buildings, and commercial offices. His NRPP multi-family certifications reflect advanced knowledge of the measurement protocols and system configurations required for larger, more complex structures, where one-size-fits-all approaches fail.
For property managers and developers, Tim’s team coordinates with builders early, particularly on Radon-Resistant New Construction (RRNC) projects, where passive or active mitigation features are integrated during construction. This proactive approach reduces future remediation costs, improves long-term indoor air quality, supports builder compliance, and protects occupants from day one.
Leads regional operations across Utah and the Intermountain West, overseeing project execution, team training, permitting coordination, and quality control for residential, multifamily, and commercial radon and vapor intrusion projects.
