The Private Well Testing Act (or PWTA) requires when property with a drinking water wells is sold or leased, the well water must be tested for contaminants. The results of the water testing must be reported to the state and reviewed by both the buyer and seller.
It is up buyer or seller to decide who will be purchasing the test and/or any treatment options if applicable.
When all of the tests have been completed, our laboratory will compile the overall results and send them to you and the state of New Jersey. Whenever a well test exceeds the drinking water standards, a notice is sent to the county CEHA health department.
The test results may be used to comply with the law for one year after the sample was collected.
If your water results come back positive for a particular contaminant, we have a customized water treatment solution, unique to your home! We will work with you to ensure the safety of your home and your peace of mind every step of the way.
Your water table can experience geological changes, according to the National Ground Water Association (NGWA), so private well owners should test their water regularly for bacteria. The U.S. E.P.A. recommends testing your private well every year for bacteria, nitrates, and pH, yet this is not mandatory by the state. Ask our experts about testing the efficiency of your current system and options for maintenance.
