Joe, Eric and Bob spent all the time necessary to figure out a complex installation, and proceeded to do a great job. They are competent, professional, and left the place neat. I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends.

Great team. They were here for less than two hours start to finish, left the place cleaner than when they showed up, and did excellent work.I own an EcoQube for monitoring which I bought a few months ago in order to get a clear picture of how bad of a problem radon is in my home. My average levels pre-install were around 20 pCi/L. Right now, less than 12 hours after install it's reading 0.9.

Doyle and Bob did a quick and easy installation of a standard radon mitigation system at my house after a couple of recent radon tests showed >42-46pCi/L (!!!). They were on-site for about an hour and a half and were super professional. While Doyle worked inside cutting/fitting PVC, making wiring connections, boring a path through the wall and a hole through the floor, Bob worked outside getting the fan wired up and doing the outdoor PVC run. They were a fast and efficient team. The quoting process was straightforward and there were not hidden up-charges or pressure for things I didn't need. I would recommend Protech to anyone needing a radon system and they were significantly cheaper than the competing quote I received. I am very happy with the system so far.UPDATE: 2/26/2024 - My post-mitigation radon test result is 2.4pCi/L. I am very happy with that!!!

Doyle came out today and swapped out my radon mitigation unit's fan. He was great. Very professional and talked me through everything. He even recommended the best radon monitoring unit on Amazon and the new fan is purring like a kitten. Would definitely recommend Protect for radon mitigation unit maintenance/install work.

We needed a Radon mitigation system installed and had a great experience with ProTech. Grant spent time with us to develop the best plan for routing the system to be effective and unobtrusive. Grant and Adam did the install. They were professional and efficient and did quality work. They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the results. Also, knowing we were under a time constraint, the company called us when they had a cancelation and fit us in. I would highly recommend!

Great experience from sales to actual install. Sales quoted it over the phone based on description of property which is competitive to the other quote(s) I got who also just quote over the phone. Decided to go with them since my neighbor had used them. Joe and Adam showed up on time. We talked through my questions and concerns before they started. They cleaned up and explained everything afterwards. My post install reading went down to 0.4 pCi/L (was mid-3's prior to install), so almost a 10x improvement.

Absolutely 5 star. They showed up to perform the service and noticed both of our condo neighbors did it, and let us know we simply did not need the service because we had air draw in our living area so it was successfully getting rid of the Radon. They could have easily installed it but they let us know instead. That is all I need to know. So happy they were HONEST and also they showed up on time for what it’s worth. Grant smith the tech was amazing.

Protech Environmental - Ann Arbor. We had a positive Oakland County radon test a few years ago, but ignored it because we had left it out a few days longer than recommended. We repeated the test properly this year, and it was 2 pCi/L over the safe limit of 4. We called a company recommended on NextDoor, and they wanted nothing to do with it, because 1.) we have a snarl of pipes near our sump; 2.) we have a stone-clad exterior, and they said we would have to hire our own mason to drill the hole through the wall. They also said that now 6 pCi/L is the new safe limit, that they do not re-test after mitigation because it would be a conflict of interest, and finally recommended a large HVAC mitigation system to empty the whole basement and suggested another firm.We were researching whether to test the water in the sump, and came across Protech Environmental. Their website was very honest, stating that they have never had positive radon in water, so they do not charge people to test. We called them, the dispatcher, Neil, said he would let us know when they had a crew in our area, and he called within the week!Bob and Doyle arrived early, and assessed the situation and said they were pretty sure the sump was the issue. When they came to do the work, they were early again, brought their own masonry drill for the hole, went out of their way to make it as aesthetic as possible, troubleshooted our gutter drain, held true to their estimate of $950, cleaned up the dust and debris, and left another test to send to an independent lab. We were very happy when the test returned with a level of 0.8 pCi/Liter. Highly recommend!!

I couldn't be happier about my experience with pro-tech. Selling our home the radon was discovered to be high and pro-tech gave us a great quote over the phone. They were easy to schedule and when their crew came they were professional and prepared. The lead guy was open to our input and we were able to come up with a great nonobtrusive place to vent the piping that wouldn't detract from the homes charm. The techs wore masks and cleaned everything up, even cutting a couple basement storage shelves to make the placement work. I can't say enough.

Outstanding experience and highly recommend. Our average reading was appx 4.0 before remediation (with spikes as high as 7.5 - we had it professionally tested and the report gives you detailed results over a 48 hour period). After Protech completed the remediation the average dropped to 0.3 with a max of 1.3 (professionally re-tested as well for the full detailed report). Work was completed quickly and installers were on time and very professional. If you are considering remediation we absolutely would recommend using Protech.

My family and I are safe thanks to the services performed by ProTech environmental. We used to have a Radon level of 10-15 pCi/L (we have an electronic radon detector in our basement). Since they installed the remediation system, our annual average (mean) has been about .5 pCi/L....rarely above 1 pCi/L.Services performed on time, first time, as agreed.Thank you!

I had a Radon installation scheduled for last Thursday after getting a quote on the phone. When the techs didn't show up for the appointment, I called and they informed me that they had me down for the next day in the afternoon. When I told them I took the day off of work for the appointment that I confirmed by email, they got a crew out to me in 30 minutes. The crew was very professional, did a great job, and showed me everything. I was extremely impressed with the recovery and would highly recommend Protech to others in need of Radon systems.

This company is very honest and does excellent work. When I first called and requested a radon mitigation system, the company president, Kurt, told me that the radon readings that another company had done were invalid (because the scores were so far apart) and he told me to retest, as I may not need a system. Kurt was absolutely right: the retests (which were valid) averaged 2.5. His honesty saved me hundreds of dollars. Today, Bob and Ryan came out and put in a new sump pump and sump pump cover. They did great work, charged a very reasonable price, and even put a drain in (the basement has no floor drain) in for no extra charge. Dave, the manager who set up the appointment for me, was also very helpful, diagnosing exactly what I needed before the workers came, based on the photograph of the sump pump I sent. I don't often give five star ratings but this is well deserved: honest, great prices, excellent workers, integrity.

They were outstanding (I think we worked with Dave?)! He actually went above and beyond by fixing two of our outlets that weren't working in the basement for no extra charge. Price was about what I was expecting (actually a little less!) and I was happy with the Job done. Strongly recommend.

About Radon in Michigan

  • Michigan has an estimated 4,629,611 total housing units with 114,407 tests during the study period. Overall, Michigan has an estimated mean radon level of 3.1 pCi/L. (American Lung Association)
  • 1 in 4 homes across Michigan have elevated radon levels, including in the Ann Arbor area.
  • The EPA designated Ann Arbor a radon gas Zone 1, with average radon levels above 4.0 pCi/L.

Why is it Important to Test or Mitigate for Radon?

Radon testing and mitigation is an essential step in ensuring the safety and health of your Ann Arbor home. As an odorless, colorless, and tasteless radioactive gas, radon can seep into homes through foundation cracks and other openings, posing a significant risk without any immediate warning signs.

If left untreated, radon can lead to severe health issues, especially if your radon levels are high. The only way to detect radon is through testing, as it does not cause any immediate symptoms like headaches, nausea, or fatigue.

What If I Have Elevated Radon Levels?

The EPA advises that all homes undergo radon testing and be mitigated if the radon concentration is 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) or higher. However, there is no safe level of radon gas.

If your home tests for elevated radon levels, it’s important to remember that radon problems are fixable. Here are the steps you should take:

  • Confirm the Results: If you test and the levels are high, it’s time to take action and call a radon specialist.
  • Consult a Professional: Reach out to a certified radon mitigation professional who can assess your home and recommend appropriate solutions to reduce radon levels.
  • Install a Mitigation System: A radon mitigation system can significantly reduce radon levels in your home. These systems typically involve venting radon from beneath the home and expelling it outside, where it dissipates harmlessly.

What You Can Expect From Our Ann Arbor Radon Testing and Mitigation Services

Our process includes:

  1. Radon Test Kit: You can request a free radon test kit to measure radon levels of your Ann Arbor home.
  2. Customized Mitigation Plans: Based on the radon levels detected, we develop a mitigation strategy that fits your home’s needs. This might involve installing specialized systems to vent radon safely out of your home.
  3. Professional Installation: Our certified professionals install the mitigation system with precision, ensuring it operates effectively and efficiently.
  4. Follow-Up Testing: After installation, we conduct follow-up tests to ensure radon levels have been reduced to safe levels.

The Best Radon Services in Ann Arbor, MI

Trust us to protect your home from the dangers of radon with our expert Ann Arbor testing and mitigation services.

If your home tests for elevated radon levels, it’s important to remember that radon problems are fixable. Here are the steps you should take:

  • Confirm the Results: Conduct a follow-up test to confirm the initial findings. If the levels are consistently high, it’s time to take action.
  • Consult a Professional: Reach out to a certified radon mitigation professional who can assess your home and recommend appropriate solutions to reduce radon levels to safe standards set by the EPA.
  • Install a Mitigation System: A radon mitigation system can significantly reduce radon levels in your home. These systems should be installed by a professional and involve venting radon from beneath the home and expelling it outside, where it dissipates harmlessly.
