Overall we are very satisfied with Radon Systems, Why? Let me explain: We surveyed several contractors that were listed on the CT State Radon Web site as being licensed and qualified to perform mitigation for air and water radon. During the survey I called and asked each contractor the same questions, and tracked their responses, such as experience, operational area, number of installations and experience of staff as well as availability and timeline for an installation. I also reviewed all available web materials and customer surveys and the BBB, and social media for customer comments. As we have an older home, when we built the house the code did not require it to be “radon ready”, and shortly after construction our radon tests indicated there were no radon issues, however as the building settled we found radon intrusion and levels rising to the point where action was indicated. We also took the opportunity to test radon in our water due to having a well as opposed to city water, and that test indicated mitigation was warranted. The installation: Josh our technician met with us prior to installation to evaluate the best location for the vapor as well as well water bubbler system. Given that our home has a finished walkout basement we were relieved to learn that the system could be accommodated in an existing utility room and out of the way crawlspace/access closet so it would be unobtrusive. Josh explained the system, the process and timeline in a very professional and capable manner. A few days later the crew of two technicians (Josh and Dave) arrived and installed all the equipment. The Results: I was not expecting results so quickly. However, immediatley measurable results were produced and within one day the air mitigation sub-slab air exhaust system reduced the measured pCi/L level to below 2.0, and the level has remained well below 2.0 since installation (the 24-hr moving average is 1.1 pCi/L at the moment) however barometric pressure, temperature and other factors impact daily results. The water results were even more dramatic as we experienced a 99% reduction from pre-mitigation levels, to less than 100 pCi/L (too low to measure accurately according to the independent lab). Before the mitigation was installed, I purchased an ‘AirThings View Radon’ monitor that is connected to the internet so I’m able to track results over time, 12-hr, 24-hr, weekly, monthly, etc. Prior to installation the system the average air was over 5.0+ and as noted it is now well below 2.0 and far below the action level of 4.0. Some points that standout: 1. Excellent communication - we received TXT and email updates throughout the process. 2. Professional Staff - From the first call to the office, the preliminary assessment, installation and post installation questions, all prompt and thorough. All staff were knowledgable, professional and experienced. They have been in this business since the 1980’s and know what they are doing. 3. Price - competitive, as all the contractors seemed to be in the same ball park. 4. Performance - we didn’t just assume the digital monitor was correct. For this reason we actually had an independent lab perform a manual test, done side-by-side over a 4-day period and the results were the same, below 2.0. (So we validated using two different systems.) See attached two (2) AirThings analysis/graphs showing a monthly (prior to installation on 8/26) and the more detailed report shows a seven-day trend. Note the data are measured I believe every 20 minutes (on a moving average basis). Also, see the Radonaway RP 145 /165 CFM exhaust fan installed outside of the home behind the garage where it is out of sight. I would recommend this contractor.

Very responsive, quick, and efficient

John was quick to respond and schedule a date for installation. The installation was quick, professional, and blends in with other outlets on the side of my house. Tests show the system is working as desired and this is great for peace of mind.

Quick analysis for water and air post remediation by independent testing lab 2 weeks after install. Systems are successful. Install was ontime, efficient and cost effective. Knowledgeable and polite installers (one tech for air and one tech for water). I might add, my house was built in the 1700's and is now raising a new, young family. When we initially detected high radon levels in the basement, we were very worried and stressed. Luckily, we found Radon Systems. John promptly answered all my questions and provided necessary documents for review. The installation of the mitigation system was masterfully done. The technician is very experienced and thoughtful. He took the extra time and effort to paint the outdoor components in order to fit into the building environment. The lab results just came back, confirming the radon level has dropped to around 1. This company is great. They came quickly, on time and worked 2.5 hours straight, effectively and thoughtfully remediating our Radon problem. Couldn’t be happier. They were a little more expensive, but in my opinion worth every penny.!
